Port Forwarding newbie
Hi there,
I'm trying to set up port forwarding on my network. I have a sky router; I have disabled the wifi and have a mesh network, and Bitdefender firewall. So I don't have a clue how all this fits together.
I have got a IPv4 address, Subnet Mask & Default Gateway via the cmd ipConfig command.
I have entered the port to be forwarded in the 'Services' tab, added this service to the IP4 Firewall section and entered the IPv4 adress, and then nothing...it doesn't work.
Help please.
Thanks

Re: Port Forwarding newbie
@Bwardman assume you have a black Sky hubs if so check you have follwed thecsteps here correctly https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband-Talk/How-to-set-up-port-forwarding/ba-p/2662260
Note the comment at the bottom about Port Checkers as that catches a lot of people out. The only real test is if the external site can reach the app on the target device..

Re: Port Forwarding newbie
Hi again,
thanks for the guidance - first problem. When I go to select a radio button how do I know which ip address refers to my laptop? My laptop is named but only four items show, and two of those are marked as unknown. The other two aren't my laptop. Also, none of the ip addresses given match the ip addresses given by the ipconfig command?
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Port Forwarding newbie
@Bwardman go into your latops network settings and make a note of the IP address which should be 192.168.0.x where x is from 2 to 253. Then you need to reserve that address with the hub so it remains fixed for the laptop. Use thecaddress in your rule.
Devices show as unknown if they dont return a string the hub can display its quite common.
