Poor connection

Just had sky fiber 500mb installed, speed is great on my wired Xbox although on my son's Xbox wirelessly he's getting only 70-80mb speed and keeps losing connection during games which never happened before with my last provider when we did a test on his xbox it says 100 percent packet loss, any help appreciated as Ihe won't stop moaning at me for switching providers 🙄

@jimmyjames50  the issue would seem to be very poot WiFi connection to your son's xbox. However given WiFi signals in your home are affected by the layout, type of construction and level of interference it is difficult to advise without more detail. However the first thing to check is the Sky hub is in the best location which is typically out in the open on a surfacexaboven  obvious obstructions like radiators.

The new white Sky hub uses higher 5GHz channels than many older routers these are great as they can carry more data but suffer greater attenuation when passing through solid objects it is possible thst in your son's room the only signal getting there is the 2.4GHz band which is suffering from interference. You cannot select which channels the Sky WiFi Max hub uses but restarting it might help.

However honestly if yourson wants to have a better gaming experience and using ethernet cable is impractical look into buying a a powerline networking kit that uses your home's mains wiring to carry the data while not equalling direct ethernet it is a much better solution than a weak wifi signal especially in terms of latency.
