Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
'Gigafast' or 'Ultrafast' (which can be 100Mbs delivered over copper)?
It should be essentially impossible to order any Sky FTTP broadband product at an address outside the national Openreach full fibre network because the sales system couldn't process such a thing.

Gigafast - Sky are online now doing a speedtest and telling me I'm getting 682mg/s when I'm actually getting 19mg/s.

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
OK: Gigafast absolutely cannot be delivered over copper cabling.
Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome
It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
The key line is
ONT exists with active service
which means that as far as Openreach, BT Wholesale and Sky is concerned there is FTTP in current use at the address.

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
Thanks Timmy,
I'm genuinely stumped - do not undertsand why my internet is so incredibly slow - when the Openreach Engineer told us that there are no high-speed cables to our street it made total sense and explained everything?!?

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
The engineer has to be wrong, there is no possibility of Sky processing the order, Openreach accepting it & installing an ONT without fibre cables being present.
As for your speed, that could still be the issue the engineer was describing. How are you testing the speeds? On what device and is it WiF or ethernet?

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
Possibly what the engineer is saying there are no spare ports on theblack cbt box on top of the elephone supplying you . In other words no new fibre connections can be made until they expand the number of ports

If I get it right mark as answered
If I get it wrong humour me
If I say something you like give a thumbs up

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
Is your Sky Hub plugged into a passive wall socket (no lights) or an Openreach ONT (several LEDs)?

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
Then it could be your WiFi that is the issue, rather than the line itself. Are you able to connect via ethernet and run a test?

Well, that confirms that the Openreach engineer was completely incorrect, and you do have a full fibre connection which should be capable of gigabit speeed as far as the ISP router (but WiFi from it is a very different thing)

Re: Paying for Gigafast but no high speed cable installed
Hi James,
Just done that and wow - 600mg/s down and 111mg/s up - still don't know how to rectify it but doesn't look like the line!
