PROBLEMS WITH DEVICES STAYING CONNECTED TO ROUTER

Hi, For several months we have had issues with certain devices not connecting to the router, For instance one television in one bedroom will fail to connect at least 3 -4 days a week. The router will need to be reset, and then the TV will connect. This can also occure with some mobiles on occasions but not so regular as the tv.

Also wifi signal throughout the house will drop, or will be intermittent, and again the router needs resetting.

This has been happening for several months and is very frustrating, having to reset router most evenings.

Would appreciate some explanation into why this is happening? Considering looking into other providers if this can not be resolved

Look forward to hearing from you

@Phil6363 one explanation could be interference from neighbours' networks or another source of wireless signals. Thst restarting the hub helps supports that theory as the hub will try to find the least congested WiFi channels. The best solution iscto improvecthe WiFi coverage in your home which can becdone by investing in Sky's WiFi Max bundle that can get you up to 3 WiFi extenders or buying your own whole home WiFi system.

thanks for reply,

just had a long conversation with sky about this and possible Sky max addition.. Already paying additional amount for sky boost and max would be £5 additonal on top..all adds up. the issue i have is, i wasnt encountering these issues 12 months ago, but why are they now occuring all the time? this is what puzzles me..

@Phil6363 you should not havecto pay for Boost if you buy Sky WiFi Max. Interferencecis an increasing issuexascpeople upgrade their networks to stream video, work from home etc so its likexan arms race.

However there are other potential causes so as a start look around your home to see if the issue is closer to home. Any equipment that uses wireless communication can be the source especially if it is close to the hub. Wireless speakers, cordless phones bluetooth kit can be the issue.
