I mistakingly, (but carefully) unplugged my optical cable from my open reach as my Internet was down, and I wanted to resolve it quickly. But when I realised unplugged the wrong cable and plugged it back in the. LOS light is now red. Is this something to worry about? A quick Google search stated that it is an external fault, and I'm kind of desperate at the moment. I have an online exam I'm the coming days and I need it fixed ASAP.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAn LOS light suggests that the light coming down the cable is no longer being recived by your ONT. This could be that you damaged the cable while unplugging it or got dust inside the connector.
You would need to contact Sky to get an engineer arranged to look at it. It will often take 2-3 working days to get an Openreach engineer out to you but sometimes can be longer so I would plan ahead to take your exam somewhere else with an internet connection incase.
