Nvr reboot

Hi, I believe my nvr is causing a reboot of the sky hub. I've taken the Ethernet port out and all seems okay now. My set up is to add services for port 80 and 6036 Uda/tcp and then add these exceptions for the reserved ip address for my cctv on ipv4 firewall. I am sure I've done this correctly but is there anything else I should do instead to stop these reboots? Reboots/reset occurs every 2-3 days. May thanks

@Jashan that is highly unusual as unless a device is seriously faulty it should not cause a router to reboot over an ethernet connection. Setting port forwarding rukes simply programs the Hub's firewall again software changes wont cause a physical reboot once saved. Are you sure the hub reboots which takes around 5 minutes with the lights changingcolour as the various systems load or could it just be a loss of connection which then reconnects? This guide help understand the indicator lights https://www.sky.com/help/articles/hub-lights-explained-start

Loss of connection between midnight and 6am can be due to essential maintenace work or routimes like a partail fibre connection optimising the line. No ISP guarantees 24/7 connection. However spotaenous rebooting of any hub indicates a potential fault. Sky will replace the unit if your hub is doing that.

Re: Nvr reboot

Yes it definitely reboots. I noticed the connection time wlan 5ghz is less that 2.4 and the others. 5th keeps resetting ? Is that normal. Since getting the new router no more resets so far but I'm just monitoring before I connect cctv

@Jashan if a hub reboots every timer restarts not just one if you have a black hub the system up time is shown in the hub's connection stats Sky Hub statistics.

If you have a new hub if the issue continues it is highly likely something in your network is the cause  but a device causing a router to reboot over an ethernet connection is a new one for me.

Re: Nvr reboot

Sorry yes with the old sr203 I was having reboots all connections would drop. With the new sr203 I have only noticed 5ghz dropping and resetting- not sure why? Can you shed any light on this? Sky networking team suggested it is the device attached to port 1 (my cctv) causing reboots because of the amount of data it is handling. I told them I've had it for 5 years and not had this issue and the issue only arose when you converted me from copper to full fibre. Will now monitor if it reboots as it happens every 2-3 days and so far no reboots on first 3 days. Then will put cctv in and programme router to open port 80 and 6036, will reserve ip for router and add exception on firewall. Then fingers crossed it doesn't do it again. Next point of call sky said would be to change the switch in the green box and the ont box in my premises if it still reboots without the cctv connected. Only change I have made so far is the connection is wanoe rather than auto

Re: Nvr reboot

@Jashan Just keep an eye on your stat's and also look in the log file, my advice is to restart the sky Hub at a specific time so you have a reference time to go against say at 9.00am, the hub take 5 minutes approx to reboot and get online, that way you get to watch all the time values, the 5Ghz is somewhat flaky showing what is going on and have only had the Time mess up once, so not sure if it was a reset or just a time rollover but it was way up there in hours counting ie 1400hrs so many many days....

Was keeping the eye on return to sky at the time and making sure that the SR203 was good and operating well on the FF Full Fibre connection, so as far as i could see, not one single issue with either! Can post the stat's pic's up if you need, just let me know!

Going to wait one or two more days before I do my CCTV ethernet port.

Re: Nvr reboot

@Jashan Are you seeing any particular problems on the 5Ghz band, if not just ignore the sucker but let sky know what is going on, still have my SR powered up so will look see what it;s doing since the last post!

Edit:- Dropped off, connected to the SR203 on the 5Ghz band so you can see the data sent back/forth to the Hub, and screen capture below when cleared for viewing!

Re: Nvr reboot

The 5ghz timer resets everyday at 02:48am. The others remain as they are

Re: Nvr reboot

@Jashan Is there anything shows up in the log file, at the 2.48am time stamp, only thing that i can think off, do you have sky Q mini's etc, going into the eco mode as that is around the 3am mark... You have us all stumped with that one, just do not see it at all!!!

Re: Nvr reboot

@Jashan Although everything is looking good, do look at tomorrow mornings log if you are also up at that time and this should not be causing anything but you do have this in the timestamp! or look now time displayed and work it back would be 18Hrs etc on the 5Ghz!
