No telecare alarms, but will I have to switch to full fibre to have Internet calls?
Hi,
I am currently still on the part fibre legacy package Sky Fibre Max, synced at 80/20. I have noticed that we are being encouraged to tell Sky if we have any telecare or medical alarms that are connected to the telephone line.
I have a few questions for you knowledgeable customers.
If I live in a full fibre priority exchange area and only have access to FTTP via Openreach, does this mean that I will be encouraged to switch to full fibre and re-contract for 24 months?
I am currently out of contract with Sky.
If I do not have any telecare or medical alarms, does this mean that I could be switched to full fibre sooner than January 2027?
If I am still using a Sky Q Hub, model ER110, would I have to change to full fibre because there are no copper-based products available to me, e.g. SOGEA? Full Fibre would need to be installed just for ‘Internet Calls’
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.
Thank you.

Re: No telecare alarms, but will I have to switch to full fibre to have Internet calls?
@skyuser247 If you are still in contract and you moved to full fibre it would not be a new 24-month contract. That contract would end when it was supposed to and it would then be your choice then to either stay or move ISP's.
As for the phone, you would be moved to internet calls for that service where your phone would plug into the back of the router. If you lost broadband service then your landline would go down with it for that time period. It is always good to have a backup. The calls package you pick is what you would like going from pay-as-you-go or have a talk package on top of your broadband package,
