Hi all,
We had our new hub fitted by Openreach in September - at the time the engineer said there was an issue with our connection so he connected it via wifi rather than using the dsl RJ11 cable. I didn't actually think too much about this as I was in work at the time
However we have had issues with the connection dropping out so sky sent us a new hub. As I've gone to swap them over today I've realised there is no black cable plugged into the purple port so wondered if this is the source of the issue.
Just wondering (before I have to start rearranging the furniture as the wall socket is behind a very large and heavy unit) whether this is a common occurance.

Ultrafast 1 over FTTP would have an ethernet cable between an ethernet port on an ONT (a 'fibre modem', typically wall mounted with a power supply and LEDs) and ethernet port #4 on a Sky Broadband Hub.
Ultrafast 1 on G.fast would use an RJ11 cable between an unpowered wall socket and the Hub.

That's somewhat confusing: there is no form of WiFi connection which can replace an RJ11 cable (which would be between a wall socket and the modem socket in a router for ADSL, FTTC or G.fast). For FTTP there is no RJ11 in use at all.

We have ultrafast 1 - so is it fine that there is no RJ11 cable.

Thanks must be this - I can't get behind the unit to see if there is an ONT but I do have a rogue Ethernet cable plugged into the hub. Haven't seen that set up before (and I teach networks 😂) and couldn't find the answer on sky.
