No Ethernet from Hub

Hi hope someone can help.

I had my sky Hub SR203 installed/activated on Friday, WIFI works great , but I cannot get the ethernet ports to work.

Tried on my laptop , I can see activity lights on the router and on the laptop but I cant get any web pages to open. Also the  windows shows the symbol for the ethernet connection as connected.

Also tried a cable to my TV and I get no connection on that also.

Phoned sky on Friday and they said it could be because I was using a Cat5e cable not Cat8 , even though I pretty sure they are backward compatible, I bought a Cat8 cable and it still does not work.

Can anyone help???

Strange, arrived home yesterday thought I would try the TV/Sky stream using the ethernet cables as I've tried before and this time everything worked 🤔😀

Thanks for the advice peeps 👍

That's very bad advice: Cat 8 is entirely unnecessary for domestic purposes (its primary role is patching between 10Gbs ports in server rooms) and Cat5e can easily carry gigabit ethernet traffic.

@Stephen106

One thing to check is that your computer doesn't have a fixed IP address in the range used by your previous ISP: that might explain the lit LEDs but no traffic.

Yes, that would do it.

I'd suggest carrying out a network reset on each device.
