New fibre

Had new sky super fast fibre fitted replacing our old sky fibre. Now the router isn't covering the house the same as last router. Same position and same number of streaming devices

Re: New fibre

@old+nelly Have you gone from the Black Sky Broadband or Q hub to the newer White sky Max hub?

@old+nelly that is strange as the SR203 hub you now have normally gives better WiFi coberage as its aerial array is far better. Do you have Sky Q boxes by any chance and have you updated the network connetion on each if those and have lost the use of tgeirwifi hotspots?

Re: New fibre

@old+nelly Take a look at the link, the picture shows the sky hub's, you should have the sky Broadband Hub!

Re: New fibre

I have the sky broadband hub. It is not as good as the old sky q hub. Also the enhanced voice control on the  new sky glass air is vey intermittent. All seems very poor. Broadband speed is 140/ 28 most of the time

Re: New fibre

@old+nelly Trying to work out what was done, but it is looking like this, you had a fibre upgrade, the old sky Q hub was swapped out and replaced with the newer Sky Broadband Hub, it sitting in the same place as where the old Q Hub was. So far do we have it, next question did the sky Broadband Hub you got look like it was new or a refurbed item?

Re: New fibre

New fast broadband band line and router to replace sky Q which was FTTC now FTTP.

Hub looked new but was fitted by engineer when he upgraded the line

Re: New fibre

@old+nelly I had the old sky Q hub will say for at least 4 years, then got the Sky Broadband Hub about 2019 time, used it all the way up to 2024, there was virtually no difference between both the hub's and they where both on a copper line, did eventually have to get an SE210 booster but that was more so to punch the wi-fi signal down stairs. Back to sky Mar 2025 put the new REFURBED SR203 that sky sent back, resurrected the old SE210 and had them both on for a good 8 weeks with now a FF500 circuit that was done while away from sky.

Did not find one issue with both speed or the wireless wi-fi signal on either of the devices.

Now on the hub i will admit, the bands where split, and i did go set the SR203 to WANoE operation, changed the SSID / Password on the hub but the last two ssid/pass are just because off the network, had the same sky name/pass combo since the old Q day's.

Re: New fibre

@old+nelly The SR203 is it out in the open or have you got it tucked away somewhere like behind the TV or in an enclosed cabinet etc! Have a quick look and read at the link below!

Re: New fibre

It is in the same place as the original for sky q. In the same room as the new glass air. But it doesn't cover the whole house like the old one did.

Re: New fibre

@old+nelly With your sky Q TV box, did you also have a sky Q mini device, each off those acts as a wireless mesh booster that you may have had all setup even though you did not know that fact, with them gone then your wireless wi-fi now is very restricted pushing about your home! Only that single hub the sky Broadband Hub alone, and it may just not have the omph to cover everywhere that you need it!
