New build

I am moving into a new build and just been told there is no BT lines into the house and no on street cable available..  Is it possible to get broadband from Sky via a satellite dish only? Sorry if this is silly question, I'm assuming you need some sort of hard wired connection for broadband. I'm a total loss, any ideas please 🙏

@Jayscotland Sky don't provide satellite based broadband, they only provide broadband via the Openreach network.

You will have to speak to the developers/builders of your property to see why they haven't engaged with Openreach or other providers to connect your property.

@Jayscotland

Internet by satellite is a thing, but Sky does not provide it: for one thing the dish has to be considerably bigger, points to a different place, and have a two-way LNB.

The main issue with geosynchronous satellite internet (apart from high latency and cost) is that monthly data volume tends to be very limited.

Starlink, which uses Low Earth Orbit satellites, may be a viable alternative.

@Jayscotland

The most common form of non-fixed-line internet access is of course cellular data (4G/5G)

Incidentally every property in the UK has the right to a 'landline' (broadband/phone) provision under the Universal Service Obligation.
