New Sky WiFi Max

Hi - Upgraded to Sky WiFi Max in May and I am less than impressed with the connectivity I have been experiencing. I have a three story townhouse and previously had router on middle floor but was told when BT engineer fitted new fibre connection that the router would need to be on ground floor.

Since the upgrade I find making WiFi calls very glitchy and connectivity poor (keeps dropping) plus strength of wifi signal in my office is not as good as previous.

I thought part of what I was paying an extra £4 per month was to be provided with a wifi extender / mesh device (the advert shows the router and additional plug in device so I was surprised to find that this was not provided as standard.

Can I please be sent one extender to see if that will help?

Regards

Iain Brydon

@JockPie So you are aware, you do need to call sky to get even the first pod organised and ordered, there appears to be NO other way off doing so, and the Forum is just cust - cust help. Have included all that sky Max info below for you. Good luck with it all, and so you also know before hand STOCK issues with all the sky max stuff at present!

Re: New Sky WiFi Max

Thanks. TBH, I thought I was messaging Sky Customer Service not the Community Forum.  Must being getting stupid in my old (not that old) age as this is the 2nd time I've done this...I'm sure Sky make the "need help" type options look like you about to contact Sky...at least that is my excuse 😆.

I'll call them as SkyQ box also playing up...

Re: New Sky WiFi Max

@JockPie as you have the one mini box the Q mesh network should not be really causing issues however try the below steps. You have likely done some with already having the max hub.

Get your router plugged in with just the necessary connections first (power and Ads cable OR power and Ethernet cable. Depending on your line type) Then get the router onboarded and showing on your mysky app.

(QR code in lid of box)

Make sure you network reset and power cycle all Q boxes and Q boosters before you connect any Q devices to the new router.

Connect mainQ to router then all other Q to each other via WPS one by one, 2.4GHz off as you go.
