New Sky Max wi fi 6 router issues and Returning Sky Q Hub

I have a new fibre line with ultrafast Sky Max WiFi 6 white router.

This was activated on 29th April.

I cant find any emails or messages from Sky saying I need to return my old Sky Q hub.

Can anyone advise.

Also I was having difficulty connecting some devices to the new router and the only way I could get a Samsung smart tv to connect was by changing the security on the router from wpa3 to wpa2. Not ideal.

I am also finding that the wi fi coverage with the new white Sky Max 6 router is not as good as the Sky Q hub with broadband boost. Infact the connection keeps dropping and disconnecting near the back of the house.

@VeryFrustrated2  If you have Broadband Max, then you can ask for a pod which is the same as a booster.  As for the Q hub that is coming end of life and you might be asked to send it back, but if not keep it as a backup router just incase.

If someone has helped give them Like.

Thanks for that.

I was advised when I took out the contract that the WiFi max 6 would be better coverage and I didn't need any boosters on my Sky Q hub.

Have you any idea why one of my Samsung smart tvs will ony connect with wpa2 yet the other one connects with wpa2 and wpa3.

Also my Samsung Galaxy 23 has a decent signal near the back of the house but my sons Galaxy A34 has a lower signal and keeps disconnecting.

The A35 worked fine before with the Sky Q hub.

Are the Samsung TVs the same model and year? If not its likely Samsung introduced WPA3 support on the newer model.

The tvs are different models but the one that only connects to wpa2 is a new UE32T5300 that was bought in April. The other tv that connects to both wpa2  and wpa3 is a 55" and is about two years old.

Correct me if I am wrong but the UE32T5300 looks to be a budget 2020 model so its very likely the WiFi Chip inside it is cheap of the cheap and doesnt support 5ghz WiFi or WPA3. Unless you have the 'CE' version of that model in which case it looks like it could be a 2023 model but still being a budget TV it may not support WPA3.

Your 2yr old 55" TV is likely newer & more expensive so built with more premium and feature rich components.

Re: New Sky Max wi fi 6 router issues and Returning Sky Q Hub

I am having a sumilar issue. Im a new broadband only customer, never ever had ANY connection or router issues here for years with other providers. Now I have sky bb all I get is painfully slow loading times for websites, engineer replaved a socket cable, got replacement router but still same issues. Router is 5 ft away from devices!! Utterly poor so far, sky just keep saying its my walls etc..there are no walls between tv and laptop and roter! Never had so many issies, also overcomplicated by dumb sky broadband shield... Im considering cancelling due to poor service after 3 weeks. I work from home and need good wofi! This is abysmal.

The Samsung 32" tv is a UE32T5300CEXXU so the newer model.

Any ideas why the Samsung Galaxy S23 has a reasonable signal at the back of the house but the Samsung A34 cuts out. As I said earlier this didn't happen with the Sky Q hub.

You're directing your sarcasm to the wrong person. There are two people asking different questions here.

Could be that one phone is picking up a 2.4ghz signal while the other is trying to stick with 5ghz. You could test it by temporarily disabling one of the bands

@VeryFrustrated2 Did you ever find the solution to getting the Samung UE32T5300 connected? I'm having the same issue.

Hi how do I do that? Is it free? Internet speed seems ok a week since installation but WiFi is nowhere near as good.

@NurseJay

The 5Ghz band can be disabled using the Hub administration settings in the My Sky app.
