New Router ACtivation
My broadband router has a fault and SKY have sent me a replacement. There is no indication anywhere to tell me when my new router will be activated. I do not want to switch off my existing router then have to wait for an extended period. without broadband, before I can install and use the new one. - Any idea how long I should wait?
Thanks.

@JER4 Is there any information about this equipment delivery in track orders in my account?

Re: New Router ACtivation
No info that I can find anywhere.
The outer packaging for the router says 'Ready to go by' and beneath this writing thetre are 2 x squares, a space, 2 x squares, anogther space and then 4 squares. This looks the format for a date to be filled in but all the squares are blank. Nothing else to go on.

Re: New Router ACtivation
Router hardware doesn't actually have an activation date: it's the broadband service to the property which does.
If the external connection is working then the new unit should connect immediately, but actual use may be delayed by firmware updates, so this would be best done overnight.

Re: New Router ACtivation
Note the above is for the black Hubs: the white Max Hub is a hybrid cloud device and so potentially rather more problematic.

Re: New Router ACtivation
Thanks for the suggestions.
I got so fed up and frustrated by trying to find solution I 'phoned SKY yesterday and I actually got yo speak to a person.
'Mark' confirmed my router had not been activated and apologised for the fact an 'activation date' waas not included in my new router packaging. He dealt with this immediately and told me my router would now be active within one hour.
I decided to leave it until today and then connected the new router. - So far so good. - Just got to connect all my other devices nd reassemble the routing for my cables to mnake gthings tidy again.

Re: New Router ACtivation
I believe the white Max routers, being considerably more sophisticated, do require a back-end process before use.
