Re: New Hub delivery- Sky Hub 4.2

Hi

i received an email from Sky,

I received my new hub last week as I renewed my broadband and requested the hub be sent at the same time. It arrived the next day. Was easy to set up.

Hope this helps.

If you’re not already aware this is a customer helps customer forum and you aren’t contacting Sky Customer Services.

Any loaned equipment will be delivered to the address where the account is.

Re: New Hub delivery- Sky Hub 4.2

I also got an email from Sky advising my router is out of date & wonder if anyone can offer myself help or advice on this issue.

I am a Sky Broadband customer for 10 years. For 9 of those years I had an SR102 router & was getting half speeds. Sky never ever told me I should have got a new router years ago. I eventually got an updated SR203 router last year which doubled my broadband speeds from 37.5 Mb/s to 75 Mb/s. I also had a dedicated Mk4 BT Openreach 5C socket added at the time.

Last week I got an email advising my router is no longer receiving updates & I should click a link to get another. When I clicked the link I got an error message & had to go through manual hoops to eventually get a router sent out.

This week I get another email saying a Sky Q 4.2 hub is being sent out. I am thinking this is the router I already have? A dual band WIFI 5 router (SR203) that is no longer supported since December 2025.

I went on the website chatbot thing & got a Sky technical agent, but got no answers there either. Agent said something about a  Broadband Max 6 hub I would have to be escalated to and was also going on about giving me 3 WIFI boosters or something. Not needed in my small 46 sq/m single level home. I ended the chat due to going round in circles.

Anyone here know what is going on with this & how I just get a plain jane router from Sky that actually still receives updates & security fixes, etc'.

Many thanks.

You're perhaps getting the old Sky Q hub (a flat horizontal router that looks like a Q box and is being replaced and no longer supported) with the SR203 which stands vertically. The SR203 has 4 ethernet ports, the Sky Q hub has only 2. The SR203 is very much still supported, the other hub mentioned will be the Sky Max router, a large white vertically standing hub which is much maligned so hope for the SR203.

Re: New Hub delivery- Sky Hub 4.2

Thanks for the reply.

I had no idea the hub I have is still being supported (SR203) due to the email I received from Sky.

I am guessing Sky think I still have my old SR102 router. I don't see any other reason to get an email saying my hub needs replacing when it is still supported.

Thanks again.
