Its just that when fttp eventually arrives in your area the modem becomes obsolete and you can dispose of it and plug a seperate router into the ont. However the tp link vr2100 and vr2800 should work with both fttc and fttp as their internal modems can also be bridged by putting the vr into wireless router mode

Re: Netgear orbi RBK853

@Magicmart the Asus XT12 is on sale on amazon atm for £560 for 2 pack, you can also buy single packs. Its very overkill for FTTC mind.

Yeah I saw that but I don't think it's Wi-Fi six at the price will be Futureproof to a degree but I have been debating whether to pull the trigger on that. Is there any other recommendations are just as good with Wi-Fi 6E

No its not wifi 6 but you would be using a seperate router eg asus rt ax models for the wifi 6. You would set the tp link td w9970 in modem only (modem bridge) mode as shown below

Instructions for setting up tp link td w9970 as modem bridge

select sky vdsl from isp list

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1332/

And then attach your chosen wifi 6 router to it

The XT12 is 802.11.ax (so Wi-Fi 6)

Tp-link device @cookiemonsteruk mentions, used in modem only mode...then connect your WI-FI 6 router to that.

Re: Netgear orbi RBK853

The XT12 is wifi 6. I had the ET12 which is 6E but 6E isnt worth it unless u have 6E devices. I have a bunch but the 6ghz band doesnt go very far and walls floors ruin the signal

Re: Netgear orbi RBK853

getting a good wifi 6 mesh now & then when FTTP is available for you jumping on wifi 7 in 2024 would be whats worth it.

ive actually still got my ET12 which is being returned next week. Personally 6E isnt really worth it for home use atm esp when hardly any devices use that band & wifi 7 is around the corner. Its more of a stop gap.
