MySky Fiber Broadband speed checker

Recently got Sky Fiber installed. Using the MySky app to check speed I could never get the minimum speed of 90 mbs, only getting 60 to 70mbs. Reported this to Sky twicw which was a major issue on its own!

Finally after an hour on the phone going through many checks, unplugging and sending photos they arranged for a new Hub to be sent. This arrived and was tested by the MySky app again but with the still slow speed recorded.

Again round the houses to get to talk to a human and the same tests, unplugging and photos before they decided to send an Openreach engineer. He arrived within a couple of days and checked speed using his app and found it to be 125 mbs! Checked on MySky app and it was 68mbs!

He reported to Sky and was told it was a known issue with MySky app.

If this was the case why was customer services not aware of it which would have saved Sky the cost of a new Hub and an Openreach engineer. Seems Sky doesn't care about wasting money!

I cannot imagine that I'm the only one who has used the App and trusted it?

@keithandsusanscot

Have you tried just connecting a device via ethernet to your Sky hub and running a speedtest on a site like speedtest.net to see the result?

Re: MySky Fiber Broadband speed checker

I eventually tried another speed app on my phone and got the correct speed. The issue was that the MySky app which you would think should work, didn't and although it was a known fault this wasn't shared within Sky resulting in Sky wasting their money, and my time.
