My internet is slow the further I am away from the router. I think the router is a problem

My internet is slower the further I am away from the router. I think the router has a wifi problem. It is fine when I stand next to it, it slows down when I'm 1 room away but it hardly works when I'm in the kitchen 2 rooms away. The router looks like it needs changing/updating as we've had it around 6 years.

@Riz420  Are you still in contract with Sky for broadband? Have you been told that the Sky Q router is coming end of life?

You're describing exactly how WiFi works: it will be at zero Mbs after a few walls, because that's fundamental physics.

If you have the appropriate subscription supplement, Sky may loan booster hardware.

As @Highlinder indicates, Sky will be replacing all Q Hubs over the next year or so.

@Riz420

Sky loans wireless booster hardware free under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of 'Broadband Boost' and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell them except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Inevitably some have leaked onto a certain auction site, but Sky won't offer support with using these.

Confusingly the 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above.
