Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

It is as bad at that time as my greenhouses and poly tunnel watering systems are controlled by the internet overnight.   Okay i can still charge my car during the day as it is sunny but loosing a cheaprate charge costs more money.  If it was maintenance then they would have twined servers.   One set running and one set being upgraded and then switch them over.  A few minutes outage not hours.  Internet providers take enough money to fund proper systems.

Only 2 hours? Some of my devices didn't reconnect for over 4 hours.  So bloody frustrating.   I suspect it is BT not directly Sky, so most service providers will be effected in the area.

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Yeah possibly but not like there's anyway to know that seeing as I never get warned by Sky that maintenance will be happening and running the service checker is a total waste of time, all good all the time, connection is always perfect according to that. Great.

@Prismatic

Sky / Openreach don't broadcast maintenance warnings in case they're delayed or in the other extreme overrun.

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Not saying they are going to do maintence is very poor customer service.   At least we would know something is happening.   SKY should demand to know so are ready to fend off all the moans and phone calls.

@Osbrook

I'm not sure whether Openreach announce their planned maintenance to any ISPs for the reasons already given.

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Went off again over night 3rd to 4th July.  When will it be stable?

Re: Broadband outage

Chesterfield exchange issues again.   I've lost broadband and therefore land line.   It was unstable earlier today but around 4:30 pm went off completely.  DSL unable to connect to the server.    Which is rubbish as there should be multiple server and standby servers for broadband.   Should be a quick switch to the back up servers if fault seen and this should be automatic not manual.  Sky just say 2 days.

Re: My internet is down in chesterfield

Yep, at least they admit it this time.  Issues at the exchange meaning dslmcannot connect to the server.  Standard time to fix 2 days.

Should be an auto fail over.

@Gecks21

Sky normally quote 2 WORKING DAYS as a potential fix time. This is the service level agreement in the UK between ISPs and Openreach for fixing a fault as Openreach claim to be successful within that timeframe in about 85+% of cases.

Re: Broadband outage

@Osbrook Really depends on the connection type and what the actual issue is!
