Re: Max Hub activation
You could try either scanning the QR code on the hub packaging if you still have it, or entering the URL https://www.sky.com/hub6setup (preferably Chrome) to see if it successfully opens and completes the hubs activation on your account.
If not you may need to call Sky for them to have the network team look at it.
With regards to Sky Q, your hub 6 should connect to the nearest Sky Q node (using 2.4ghz), preferably the main STB, and then connect the Q nodes together using WPS which will mesh them on 5ghz.
Sky Q and the hub 6 operate independently, meaning that any previous WiFi hotspots broadcast by Q nodes will no longer function.
Wifi capability will be solely from the hub and pods (extenders) if required.

@Anonymous
Is action usually necessary when swapping routers? I'm contemplating swapping my SR213 for SR203.

The hub 6 should arrive onboarded to the account, but occasionally it doesn't and will need some manual intervention to activate.
Softwate updates so far have proven to improve this, but it appears there may be some occasional bumps.
The SR203 has never required any form of onboarding to the account. However, due to the different technology you cannot manage your broadband via the MySky app if moving from the hub 6 to the hub 4.2. No elements of the BB service checker will work and Sky will not be able to see your connection or devices to support if required. It would be like using a third party router, although VoIP may still work. For this reason a roll back is not permitted.
This doesn't mean you can't source your own router, but plugging a hub 6 would be necessary if support from Sky is ever required.

@Anonymous
"Not permitted" as in it won't work or just not supported for the reasons you outlined?
Apologies for gate-crashing your thread.

Re: Max Hub activation
@FLC Sky won't send you a hub 4 if you want to go back.
If you some how acquire a hub 4 and use it then Sky can't support it it goes wrong, same as using third party routers.
If your internet stops working then you would be required to plug a hub 6 back in. The problem with this tech is that the activation of the hub may fall off your account if left unplugged for awhile while, meaning that remote support becomes more difficult if you need to go back to it.

Re: Max Hub activation
Right - sky max hub 6 does not support the Sky Q mesh network.
Nowhere is that clear on the sky website. Given I have an outbuilding and use ethernet to get the sky q box to join the mesh, this means the new hub is not an upgrade for me!
I had to call sky, get a refund and cancellation on the wifi max (the range extenders will not work through a brick wall and down the garden). I instead purchased an eero6+ set of routers and made my own mesh network, disabling the wifi from sky.
The white router still doesn't show in the my sky app and the phone doesn't work. I've gone back to the sky black hub for now, I'll plug the new white one back in on Friday and get back onto tech support.
What a real big mess this is, and pretty terrible sky didn't make that clear when upgrading.
