Master socket mk4

Hey!
I have the master socket mk4 but it fell off the wall (literally think it was just double sided on). Two wires are now not connected (orange and orange&white).
are they supposed to be wired in? And, if so, where?
it's the master socket 5c mk4

thanks in advance!

Re: Master socket mk4

Difficult to be sure with so little information.

Is that the whole socket that has fallen off or just the detachable faceplate?

Does the phone still work?

Do you have any internal extensions run off from it?

Are those wires the extension or are they the wires coming in from outside?

Openreach often use four wires to domestic premises.  Two form the connection and two are redundant spares & not connected to anything.  It could be those you are seeing but “orange & white” sounds like an extension to me.

Posting a photo would help.

@Tink0310 On the Master Socket 5C part that say's that, Back off that plate there is a connector that pops up, the cables slide into the holes in that clear socket it is marked A and B once you push the cables in then clip the socket back down until it locks in place and that connects the cable to the socket. Does not matter which way you do them but the Norm is Orange on the A and the Or/Wh on the B.

Cables that would have been on the front connector 5 3 2 are NO longer connected as those would go to an extension socket if used, if you are on a digital line, all extension are no longer working.

If your Broadband is working then the main cable coming in on the A and B are fine, forget about the other two, OR probably disconnected them to remove internal wiring issues!

image.jpg The whole thing came off the wall.
my WiFi doesn't seem to be having an issue other than my sky protect cameras saying there's no internet connection and the service checker saying there's an issue but not finding one.

Re: Master socket mk4

I can’t see the photo yet but if the whole socket is completely detached from the wall, then it is like JimM1 says in his first paragraph.

Note, the A & B he refers to are on the back of the socket, not the ones on the inside of the detachable faceplate.

Ah, looks as though the blue pair are attached, in which case it would suggest the orange pair are just the spares.

@Tink0310 given the mastercsocket is Openreach property the correctvthing tondomis to call Sky who will arrange for an engineer to sort the issue.

Re: Master socket mk4

@Tink0310 That is the back and the connector is the A & B connections, if you have the Blue and the Blue/White in and working then that is the live pair away, the Or and the Or/Wh are NOT needed....
