Find out more@LevyN86 there are many things thst can cause lag, first is jitter which wifi is notorious for which is where data arrives unevenly so the game has to pause waiting for a packet to arrive. Direct ethernet cable is the best solution here. You can get a measure for jitter on many speed tests including Ookla.
Another potential cause is workload on the router. Sky hubs lack any QOS settings where gaming traffic is prioritised so if somebody else in your home is downloading a blockbuster your game data has to join the queue. While a better router cannot cure bandwidth issues a proper gaming router will definitely help if you have a large household
Next cause can be routing this is especially true where playing on distant servers. Sky's network is normally pretty good but if you chose a server overseas thst can be a factor. You can run a trace route and run ping tests to check if the route is the issue.
Lastly the server itself can lag if it is busy. Certain companies, looking at you EA, are bad at scaling servers so after every launch you see moans about lag - especially true around the annual FIFA launch. Read the game forums as they usually gives a heads up here.

Thank you for your reply @Chrisee
Yeah the EA servers are horrible, but I don't play EA games because of this reason, played fifa for a month but servers where horrible so moved on.
Our household is not big, only 2 of us and we don't download any blockbuster's, we usually watch movies at night but I am not gaming at that time, we watch them together on our tablets.
Reason why I was asking is, I have lag spikes in every game I play, when I do a speed test on Ookla my ping is between 8 and 10 which is pretty good and I have 0ms jitter
So thats why I asked for some tips

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@LevyN86 if the issue is on multiple games, ie different servers. there is something else going on. I would run a trace route to a couple of different servers to see if there is an issue but it is unlikely if your speed tests are running as well as you say which implies the issue is not within the Skybststem. One thought what deve ice are you using to play? Could it be an issue with the set up?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@LevyN86 it is the device you are playing the game on that could becthe issue- given the speed tests are showing good results its unlikely to be a hub issue.
