LOS light on ONT is red

I'm really struggling/frustrated - Sky service says there's no known issue in my area.

There is a red light on the LOS of the Openreach fibre ONT.

I have re-started everything a couple of times without any success - sky 'Fix this issue' sends me into a spiral loop of doom and no way of reporting the issue \ speaking with an agent.

Every time there is an issue with the service (quite a few) it's almost impossible to do anything about it.

Sky - please help me here...

@Drew77

As the service checer looks for issues in you area of which there are none then try running this line test to see if it finds any faults:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-start

You can also run the test via the MySky app on a mobile data connection.

After this has finished and if it reports back all is good click on broadband to run an updated test. If you get amber or red please follow the on screen instructions.

Re: LOS light on ONT is red

Hello there,

thanks for the reply, but the checker does not work...

It appears that my neighbour's have the same issue, so definitely not local to my home set up.

I tried the online tools, but everything ends with 'Oops there seems to be a problem, please try again later' error message, so totally useless.

Stuck without internet 😞

@Drew77 the onlinecchecker should work using a mobile connection. The red LOS light literally means Loss Of Service and if affecting a neighbour indicates an issue at the distribution point or the exchange either of which need action by the network operator who are either Openreach or City Fibre.

The service checker can walk you through some tests and book an engineer saving a lengthy phone call however you will often find that such faults are already being managed again the service checker will tell you if Sky are already aware of a fault.
