Join new to Sky broadband but BT account still open

Both broadband account are using FTTP.

I used One Touch Switch process.

I join sky broadband few days ago but BT account is still open. 

I ring BT they say ask sky to close it properly. And Sky say tell BT to close your account. 

I Used One Touch Switch proces. 

So what happens now?

@Umbrokhan  Your bt account should stay active until your switch over date so that there isn't disruption to service and t will be closed once the switch is complete 

 

so is your sky service live?

The Switch is complete. Sky broadband got activated on Friday.  But BT account is still open.

@Umbrokhan Sky is your ISP, only they can instruct BT for the broadband closure, if you mess with it they may put a cease on your line. It is NOT all instant for this to happen, you will get a final bill from BT with any refund that is due from the Sky activation date.... Are you in some kind off panic over it?

Don't want to pay two monthly bills for broadband.   Or does it take 30 days to cancel after sky takes over?

@Umbrokhan If your BT bill is already in the pipe line then you will get billed, there is zero you can do about it, the timming is what it is, you will known so if you paid the say on the 21st off the month, they are comming and taking it as a payment, the process takes upto 60 days to get all sorted out, so you may expect to pay BT and SKY, some STUPID people close the other ISP direct debit down, that just leads to extra delays for you getting the refunded payment back as they have no way to return the payment, they then raise a check to the account holder all takes time, goes in the mail, all takes time, and on and on, just make sure you can pay, keep an eye on the BT side, final bill will be produced in a couple off days. Its all in the BT terms, go look at those!

On BT website it says If you switch to another provider, they will be responsible for handling your switch.

@Umbrokhan We do not know what you have with BT, Sky is your NEW ISP, they are responsible for it all, they shut down the BT side as far as they are concerned, took your Broadband and Landline that is all... If you have anything else with BT then you are 100% responsible for that...

I think you maybe stressing for no reason.

Both BT and Sky use the same network so both can't supply you internet. I moved to Sky from Virgin Media recently and because Virgin media use their own network, I did not have confidence in their OTS so I  personally told Virgin Media that I would like to leave.

 

Your final bill credit will eventually arrive from BT once the dust settles like this.

@Umbrokhan give the system time to catch up these things are not instant.  You maybe charged an extra month by BT if the direct debit is already programmed (that is done 14 days before the payment is taken) but that payment will be credited when BT prepare their closing bill.
