Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@strangebronco if you are buying Sky's Broadband Boost bundle which promises a minmum of 3Mb/s in every room in the home. If Sky cannot provide that then you get the £5 extra you paid for the bost refunded. If you pay even more for Wifi Max the guarantee rises to the dizzingly high spedd of 10Mb/s if you are on Supperfast.
Many phones including iPhones have a setting which by default will switch to use mobile data if it is faster than wifi which these days is quite common. If you dont want that to happen go into the phone's settings and turn it off - on ios the setting is in the mobile data section right at the bottom so needs scrolling to find.
Wifi performance varies not only due the size of a property so a large 5 bed modern home can be easier to network than an old 2 bed cottage with solid walls. Also smaller homes are more likely to have closer neighbours so higher level of interference. Wifi is not quite tge plug and play system Sky's advertising implies which is why there is a such a large marketvfor third party systems. Boosters can make things worse if placed in the wrong place as they need a good signal tomthe hub to work if your home is small a booster is probably not the best solution.
