I'm moving from BT to Sky broadband FTTP and already have a Openreach ONT. Will it just be a simple case of plugging in the new router and a sky engineer scanning the ONT barcode or will the equipment have to be replaced?
Thanks.

Your broadband should be activated remotely. So openreach just need to go to the exchange
Does it say an engineer needs to attend the property

@cookiemonsteruk It does say that someone will be out to install a small grey box outside of the property. We live in a very rural area and all we currently have is the white ONT inside the property and the black box on the telegraph pole outside our home.

Hopefully that will explain why you are getting a home visit asnormally FTTP switches are simple remote activation. However if your home does not have a grey Customer Supply Point which is the grey external box where the internal fibre pigtail from the ONT is joined to the drop cable from the pole you may have an older type of connection and Openreach want to update it to the current standard and probably swap an older ONT for a new one.

Does the ONT have a thin white cable with an oblong green jack plug entering from below?
Which LEDs are illuminated on the ONT?
