Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
Hello everyone,
I have recnetly brought a Deco Mesh system for my home and everything has been setup and works brilliantly but I have been trying to get Ipv6 to work on my devices as well rater than running everything through Ipv4.
I know the sky router does this because before I connected everything I was getting Ipv4 and Ipv6 addresses on devices through the normal router but the deco mesh can't seem to do this.
For the router I connect the router through RJ11 cable and this gets the internet to the router and then the deco is connetced to the router using a RJ45 cable. If anyone knows what I could be missing that would be perfect because the network would really benefit with this feature.

Re: Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
Hi,
Just a quick update. I have managed to figure this out by selecting bridge in the settings. Also I didn't realise I also posted my IP address prefix on the post in a picture. That is a very big ameature move from me.

Re: Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
Hey, can I ask you the clarify your configuration?
- Do you have FTTH?
- Are you still using your sky broadband router with the Deco mesh in AP mode?
I have just bought a Deco mesh system and have it plugged directly into my ONT. It's working great but I can find how to set it up to work with IPv6. I tried bridge mode as you did but it still doesn't give an IPv6 address when I test it with websites like https://ipv6-test.com/

Re: Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
Thanks. However what I'm looking for a per the instructions:
Contact your ISP if you do not know your IPv6 internet connection type and configuration information.

Re: Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
@RhymzWith0range Sky use DHCPv6 PD -prefix delegation - however there is no guarantee a Deco unit will connect to a Sky line as only 80%of connections accept that connection type as it requires the exchange equipment to be able to use that. TP-Link do not offer the DHCPv4 Option 61 support which 100% of Sky's UK services support.
I find the best set up is to run my Deco system in Access Point mode behind a Sky hub.

Re: Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
Try this:
I think it's the Prefix Delogation which is off by default, but I've recently decommisioned mine, so can't check.
If you don't need telephony then best stick with router mode. AP mode will lose all the Deco's router functionality. So if your Deco has parental controls, AV, etc., they're all lost in AP mode.

Re: Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
Thanks @Chrisee and @FLC . It seems like I might be in the 20% then as I already tried the Prefix Delegation. So far I've not ran into any device/application that needs IPv6 so not suffered any consequences but I guess I'll fall back to the Sky router and AP mode should that one day be an issue.
Out of curiosity, how come the lack of DHCPv4 Option 61 only affects IPv6 and not IPv4? Am I wrongly assuming that DHCPv4 is something IPv4 uses?!

Re: Ipv6 setup on Deco Mesh
@RhymzWith0range this is not directly related to the use of IP4 or IP6 the two DHCP settings are used to authenticate your connection. On lines where both systems work you can use either. If your line wont accept the PD method you are stuck. There are many routers that support both but TP-Link dont unfortunstely.
