Internet not working

My internet connection has dropped. I have tested online and Sky reports that all ok ie no reports of local outages, that my hub is connected and that my set up is fine. Yet I can not connect. I have switched everything off, waited a minute and then switched back on - twice - still not working. Have reset the router. Still not working. The internet light on the router is not on! So what I has happened? Do I need a new router?
