Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@JimM1 have been playing around will all the connected devices to the router. I think I've narrowed it down to devices connected via a powerline set up. But too early to tell as I've only just switched on all other devices. I do find this weird since I've been using the same set up for years with no issues and the only change being moving from FTTC to FTTP.

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@depul You are on the right tracks though, can even be the move off the Hub has kicked it all off.....

I use powerline both the direct wired for my Sat box system that used to be sky Q many moons ago, and the wireless wifi two units, one for the Ring Doorbell / Ring Camera and the other in the Garage for the wife when she is power walking on the treadmill with the you tube streaming on her mobile.... But they have not caused any major problems, is your Powerline wifi as a device ie like the WPA4220 model's etc....

More advice if like that type, channel adjust to it!

@depul Here is two pictures linked below for the channel operation just in case we need...

The 2.4Ghz Powerline and Routers all separated in operation! The 2.4Ghz Powerline and Routers all separated in operation!Similar the 5Ghz band your's will be the lower as the SR203 only operates down at the low channel!Similar the 5Ghz band your's will be the lower as the SR203 only operates down at the low channel!

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@depul Now your BQM is starting to look like a real Hub in operation, not a dropped packet in site, everything crossed and touching wood my side!!!

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@depul So apart from a little latency spike around the 8am mark this morning all is looking good on your live running BQM!👍

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@JimM1 thanks for your help. Yes looking good so far. Don't know what that spike was at 8am. I can live with that considering the issues I've had for the last 3 weeks!

The powerline is just a wired one. No WiFi. That's why I find it really weird it's causing dropped packets. I'll just live without the powerline in the house. The Sky Q mesh is reasonably good.

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@depul Must be having an effect on the Ethernet connection for whatever reason, either wipe out the settings on it and start again or replace it alltogether, think Tp-Link TL-PA4010 KIT was the original had to up one failed unit to the TL-PA7017  but see they have now started reselling the slower one again, in six years or so no problem apart from that one failure, so running a AV1000 that will have dropped back to working AV600 mode!

Your BQM will show you straight away, but do not discard that it was a potential External issue and not the PL, switching it back on again, same poor responce that PL is the likely one though!

Does not take much to mess up a good working network, glad you see that and good you got to grips with it all!👍👍

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@fullfibredown Apart from a few little packet drops late last night still looking good, going to leave it all alone now if you are happy with all your current operation!👍

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

I'm amazed how quickly these threads stop being about the shocking service that sky offers and start being appeasement exercises involving buying other equipment and using 3rd party tools to troubleshoot. I get that for some people solving the problem is paramount and the fact they are not getting a satisfactory service from sky is a bit like being given a free crossword puzzle against which to test their networking chops, but for me solving the tech problem is entirely separate from holding sky to account. I'm not surprised that Sky's default support offer is "check the forums"!

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@Ubername You sure picked a fine example to look at, did you in fact understand what was going on?

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@depul Since your post was raised up again, how's it all going, see your new BQM still has a few packet drops but fairly steady?

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

Yes still looks like there are dropped packets but the connection is stable and useable for my purposes so I'm ok with that.

I might try the Sky Max hub see if it any better than the SR203

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@depul Thanks for the reply, glad it's all still hanging in there, do you still think the Powerline was the problem?

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

I understood mostly. I can find my way around networking. But my point was more about how sky hands off the difficult stuff to keen and dedicated enthusiasts rather than taking ownership of the problems their customers experience. FWIW, I came to this thread because I'm using macrodroid on my Android phone to automate certain things which are triggered by ssid connection and when it is erratic it makes life difficult. Also, when I was trying to do some development in a cloud based IDE which depended on a stable connection I kept getting interruptions (ethernet) and my requests for help from sky were met with "your speed is fine, try the forums" That said, when I've actually managed to talk to a sufficiently technical support person at sky they have been excellent.

Re: Internet keeps dropping after switch to Full Fibre

@Ubername So you do have some Technical expertise to get things going, and a lot do not, it would be great is sky got the call, sent an Engineer around to sort it all out, but that crystal ball has long sailed to say the least, and you will see the probing that goes on to extract the tinyest of details like what sky Hub do you have, oops you cannot use that with that it does not work it does sky sold it to me 5 years ago!👍 There is a £25 charge you can have anything you want, free it is not so throw that in the mix! 🙄👿
