Re: Internet is down

Same here in Eastbourne.

Sky "settings" attest to Network connection being marked with an "x" but all checks suggests all is well! How can that be?

Almost certainlythe loss of service in Sussex was down to maintenance work which is done over night when usage is at a minimum. Annoying but unfortunately part of life like overnight road works. If that was the cause systems should be back this morning.

Re: Internet is down

I work in IT if it is due to maintenance then at the very least you should advise of downtime, so people can make other arrangements. Awhy does the app say that no known issues, why do their departments only work8-6 so you can't speak to anyone. I do seem to be back online now but service is shocking

@DavidHove I dont work for Sky but in their defence Openreach often dont tell anyone in advance where local work is being done which is the most common cause. In this case, however, it looks like Sky took down a point of presence serving the Sussex area. That may or may not have been planned in advance. No domestic ISP routinely warns customers in advance of work as the vast majority will be asleep and in practice few business isps do either. It is a hazard of modern life unfortunately..

Customer service lines are fully open from 8am to 9pm but get very busy at this time of year even without major storms. I agree with you thst the status pages could update more quickly a point myself and other forum superusers made when we met the team who manage that area in the summer.
