Interment wifi speeds
Hello All
Juat joined Sky broadband on 900mbs package . Is it normal do wifi speeds to drop by 300mbp within 30 mins. Using an iphone in exactally the same location in the house 5 feet from the router . No one else using the connection apart apart of connected devices like alexa and ring cameras . Neve had this issue with EE as of recent . Started to regret moving to Sky.
Anyone have ideas to what could be causing this .
thank you

Re: Interment wifi speeds
@broadfield1 What EE Router did you have and what sky hub do you have on the system just now! Sky hub and EERouter links.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-which-sky-hub
https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/getting-started/compare-our-range-of-broadband-hubs
Speed will go up and down dependant or External network if busy, FF500 lowest seen so far 200Mb/s!

Re: Interment wifi speeds
Hello
Thank you for the reply. After selecting the link to Sky routers I stubbled across an article regarding possible slow speeds during the first 2 weeks of being active. Considering its only been a few days since moving over to Sky I'll wait to see if there is any improvment. If not I will repost on here.
Thank you
KAZ

That's probably a reference to the 'training period' for FTTC, and has no application to FTTP.

Re: Interment wifi speeds
So are you saying the 'training period' isnt applicable to me considering I'm on FTTP?
thanks

Re: Interment wifi speeds
@broadfield1 yes the two weeks has no relevance for full fibre installs but thst doesnt stop Sky agents quoting it to get customers off the phone. In practice you should get the full speed from the product is configured. Reductions in wifi speed are always difficult to pin down therefore running test on a device connected by a direct gigabit ethernet link are easier as are the rouine daily tests Sky run themselves which arecshown in the Service Checker in the My Sky app or website.

Re: Interment wifi speeds
@broadfield1 If you were already on a BT/EE full fibre connection prior to moving over to sky, then it's a simple re-direct from previous to new and anything new applied to the profile required by sky and for there version off landline control.
Connections are very straight forward but at times can go wrong, but straight out off the bat connect to your sky account, see everything looks like it should be, goto your products and have a close look at the Broadband Shield, adjust it to the level you require, allow 24hrs for all changes to filter through everywhere, landline 24-48hrs to all start working if you are using one!
And if you wish to speed test, forget doing wireless devices, get an Ethernet connected laptop/pc and pick a time outside of peak and keep an eye on it that way! Link below for some light reading.
And for speed related issues good read.
