IPv6 in Ireland

I saw from https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/IPV6-not-available-via-SKY-Hub-gigabit-fiber/m-p/4440212#M358... that IPv6 was due to be supported in "early 2024". Does anyone know of the current status of this? I have a VPN that I really only use as an IPv6 tunnel that I'd like to get rid of.

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

I was chatting to SKY today on the phone and agent told me they had not heard of any plans to introduce it. In a seperate private message with a SKY employee earlier this year I was told its actualy the "last mile provider" who is responsible for enabling IPV6, so safe to say nobody seems to know whats going on ....

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

Thanks, that's good to know. I rebooted my modem/router just now and still only got an IPv4 address, but I'd guess that's because they're migrating exchanges a few at a time.

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

Hi, just wondering is there a way to find out status of IP v6 rollout or does it require a Sky Hub router update? I have a Model SR203 with Firmware Version 7.03.0705.R for reference if anyone who is getting IP v6 successfully could compare. Thanks.

I spent wasted time trying to configure a Mikrotik router to get IP v6 with the Sky line with no luck

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

@ollyhayde use whatismyipaddress to see the SR203.

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

So it's just IP v4 I'm getting when i check whatismyipaddress, say (no IP v6 - not detected). Sky router won't give me a public IP v6 atm.

So just curious if anyone knows when/how they are getting IP v6 addresses or is there a rollout to different exchanges and/or does my router need software update. I also checked with Sky Ireland support but got limited response.

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

@ollyhayde Not sure with the FW that you quoted as to what the sky router does, but all the setting for IPV6 are in the LAN IP Setup for the SR203, if you cannot get a staight answer out off Sky Ireland.... Version that my SR203 is running below.

System Details
ManufacturerSky
ModelSR203
Firmware Version7.04.0100.R
DSL Firmware VersionA2pvfbH043p1.d26u

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

Ah it seems you both have firmware 7.04.0100.R and I have 7.03.0705.R . Not sure if this is anything to do with it but would be good to get this? Am I at the mercy of the Sky gods when i get this update or can I request it do you know?

Re: IPv6 in Ireland

@ollyhayde NO, you cannot request it, will be pushed to the router as and when sky decide and if it is required to your router!
