I would like to add a second broadband to my home, is this possible and how do i go about it please?

I live with my partners parents and they have their broadband but it is not good enough for gaming for me and my partner so we are looking to add a second broadband which I am looking at Sky as the one for me and my partner but I have no idea how to do this or get started.

Do I need a new telephone line? I'm new to all of this, so please bear with me 🙂

Yes, having a second circuit requires an second data bearer (either copper phone line or optical cable)

Typically the existing drop cable will have spare capacity, but this then needs terminating onto either a socket (ADSL/FTTC/G.fast) or ONP (FTTP)

One thing to be aware of is that it's really important to stress to the new ISP that this is an additional circuit and not a 'switch' of supplier, otherwise the current provision will be cancelled.

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

@Breakawayx81

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is available.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.
