Hi all.
For a while, I've had problems connecting to work's Wordpress site when working via train/hotel. I thought that was stressful enough but today it's spread to a problem whilst at home.
It usually involves 'This site can’t be reached’ for a while, then constant refreshes that eventually lead to the ‘Access Denied – GoDaddy Website Firewall’ page. Soon after, I'm allowed in for a bit. It's rubbish.
But today, I'm not even getting the GoDaddy firewall page. Nothing. My boss usually whitelists the latest IP as a short-term fix but that's not working anymore. Is it a problem with my Sky Broadband's IP?
Whilst reaching out today, I keep hearing words like firewall, IP, proxy, VPN etc.
So, to conclude, why can’t my home’s internet get onto this website – neither as Wordpress admin nor as a site visitor?
Thank you.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@MarcJ88Did you try and leave your router off for around 30 minutes it could be down to the public IP that you have been given to by Sky.

I'm just guessing because I don't have a clue what the problem is.
People are telling me it's a firewall/proxy/IP issue but don't really know what that means.

Because Sky uses dynamic public IP addresses what occurs is that the previous client of the public IP address abuses it and then it's allocated to another user like you and then a firewall at the WordPress site blocks that IP based on inaccurate information.
The solution usually for solving the situation is to allocate a new public IP address to the broadband connection, eg: by turning off the router for more than half an hour. Or getting the public IP address whitelisted by the WordPress website concerned.
