Re: How do I request the social tariff
@Donna19711 You need to call Sky.
You can call on 150 from a Sky Talk Line or Sky Mobile.
If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
(UK) https://www.sky.com/help/home Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number
(ROI) on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.
Stay on the line and don’t hang up if prompted to. Apparently the quieter times to ring are just after 7am or about 9pm.

Re: How to request social tariff
@Donna19711
This link explains the process if you’re eligible for Sky Broadband Basics.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-social-tariff
The Sky account holder needs to be claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance or Income based Employment Support Allowance. These are the only qualifying benefits and in order for Sky to carry out checks with DWP they will need your NI number. The social tariff is for Sky Broadband Superfast 35 with an average download speed of 36Mb/s and the Sky Talk Pay As You Go tariff (ie: all calls are chargeable). It does not offer a discounted Sky Talk plan.
Broadband Basics is only available to customers who already have Sky Broadband and to add the Sky Mobile offer, you’ll need to be taking Sky Broadband Basics, and:
a) Already have Sky Mobile and a 3GB data plan.
b) Or you can add a new 3GB data plan with Sky Mobile.
If you are eligible you’ll need to call Sky to join. There is no equivalent offer for TV. The social tariff lasts 18 months and then reverts to the full cost but if you’re still eligible you will then need to re-apply.

Re: How to request social tariff
Today 2nd April 2025 I contacted Sky to register for social tariff only to be told due to technical issues Sky could not action the order I was told to phone back in 7 days what a joke I checked online and there are no known issues with any broadband tariffs my broadband bill is about £45 a month very expensive hence requiring the social tariff at £20 a month although the speed is obviously lower it would be sufficient for me

As fellow customers he have no insight as to whether there are technical problems or not.

That would be a check on the functionality of your own broadband circuit.
The most likely technical issue with selling a Social Tariff broadband service would be the lookup between the Sky sales platform and the DWP portal which enables ISPs to verify customer eligibility.
