hi guys.
Ok so my house extension has started and i imminnetly need to move the dish and the incoming overhead cable that comes into the house at the same location as the dish does.
The dish is no problem, id basically remove this myself and install it in its new location once the building work has completed or get a local satelite guy to do it.
The broadband cable though, thats a different matter. After 4hrs on the chat with the advisor saying it was impossible and i had to call the broadband engineers on 0-three-three-three 759 4727 which i did. It was answered in 5 minutes by someone who unfortunately didnt speak very good english, she asked me to reset my router for some reason and i said i couldnt as i was at work, she then said "one moment". 35 minutes later i was still on hold and had to give up.
So what are my options here? that cable needs to go so my builder can erect the scaffold. I have in mind that i can simply cut the cable, coil it up back at the pole and then cancel my broadband subscription and go with someone else when the extension is complete. This seems drastic and ridicuolus, surely this situation comes up all the time, so why cant sky help me? im seemingly totally stuck.
How can i request a callback from someone who can actually help me before i have to take matters into my own hands with a pair of pliers.
Cheers guys.

crude image provided as to where the dish and overhead cable are now, as to where i need them (in the near future, wall not built yet), seemingly impossible to get any answers on this which must be a question asked 100 times a day over the country, surely!

That would be deliberately damaging Openreach network distribution (and just climbing the pole is illegal too), and so distinctly inadvisable. You can't 'go with someone else when the extension is complete': it's still Openreach property no matter which ISP is buying a wholesale service provided over it, and the Openreach person attending might well ask very pointed questions about how their cable ended up that way.

i cant get anything from sky in terms of a resolution, so what can i possibly do?
Im pretty sure my builder wont put my build on hold because of a cable and i must find a solution but am running into dead ends.

Two things suggest themselves:
a) ask Sky to book a master socket move (for which there's a £65 fee). The problem there would be that Openreach are likely to expect this to be internal and not require pole work, so may not come suitably equipped.
b) try to reach Openreach directly but through one of their developer/self-builder routes: they won't talk to ISP subscribers

it was more tongue in cheek, so its info i need on an actual resolution. Live chat told me to call. I called and then was pied off with no solution 😞
Id just cancel the lot and pay it off but i cant as im in contract. And even then what would i do with the cable that is stopping my building work. This must be a thing, it must happen all the time!

The abscence of an ISP subscription solves nothing: it's still Openreach infrastructure all the way to the master socket.

understood. But the complete lack of help from Sky has left a bitter taste sadly.
Is my only option to contact OpenReach directly? As far as i can tell customers cant do that themselves and have to go through Sky and Sky seem to not want to help me in any way.

As I said, you may have to blag it through one of the Openreach channels intended for self-builders. Alternatively book a master socket move through Sky but then be prepared to negotiate with the Openreach person assigned to the job.

having to blag something for what is a totally legitamte situation is really sad, i cant be the first person in the country to need a cable moved so why isnt this catored for. Ive been at this the whole day and no further forward really. Im going to try and reach out to Openreach on twitter, see if that works.
