Having problems getting Sky Fibre in High Green, Sheffield

Above.

I rang up on Wednesday as it was confirmed last week that I'm moving up there on May 12th, to see if I could transfer my Sky Fibre account to the new address, the Foreign guy couldn't hear me on the mobile so I rang back on the landline, and they told me that Sky doesn't service that particular area, which was confirmed yesterday by the guy who's the manager of where I'm moving to.

Is he right or am I just being fobbed off because they don't want the paper work to change my address on the account?

If Openreach hasn't put optical fibre into that area yet then Sky cannot offer FTTP there.

Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: Having problems getting Sky Fibre in High Green, Sheffield

@TimmyBGood Thanks.

According to the link you sent, they do fairly fast ADSL up there but there's no Fibre in the area and probably never will be.

@MrRichAllen1976 There is NO fairly fast ADSL as such, VDSL on fttc up there, but if the cabinet is sold out you are not getting it, seeing the published table does help.!

Re: Having problems getting Sky Fibre in High Green, Sheffield

@JimM1 I saw that.

It said up to 80 Mb downloads/78 Mb uploads.

Which suits my purposes, which is mainly Xbox related downloads.

@MrRichAllen1976 There is no way that it is 78Mb/s uploads for sure on a VDSL line.

Re: Having problems getting Sky Fibre in High Green, Sheffield

@MrRichAllen1976 Why do you not post the BTW result and hide your personal info, you are not getting a 78Mb/s upload on at VDSL fttc circuit NO MATTER WHAT you say...

@MrRichAllen1976 For the community to advise we would need to see the results of your search in the link posted earlier

On  a VDSL/FTTC connection the max Download is 80mbps and Max upload is 20mbps and that is if you are really close to the cabinet.

Re: Having problems getting Sky Fibre in High Green, Sheffield

@GD1 Which actually serves my purpose.

The main things I do which require a decent connection are streaming WWE on Netflix, watching YouTube, and downloading on Xbox.

Re: Having problems getting Sky Fibre in High Green, Sheffield

@JimM1 I know where I'm going.

I was informed last week that the existing tenant at what will be my Flat currently has Talk Talk Fibre, even though I specifically spoke to them last week, and they said they don't serve that area?
