Gigabyte +

I am new customer and I subscribe to the Sky Gigafast service. Is the Sky Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+ service available to me in Sheffield?
When I check online, it simply states that I am on the fastest service available in my area. Does this mean that the Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+ service has not been rolled out yet, or will it never be available to this area?

The Sky Gigafast+ product can only be delivered over CityFibre infrastructure, which has a very limited geographic distribution.  It's not available on the national Openreach network, which currently tops out at gigabit from Sky and 1.8Gbs from EE.

Re: Gigabyte +

Hi TimmyBGood,
Many thanks for your quick and helpful reply. I was a Virgin Media customer, but I guess that their fibre cable system is incompatible.
That is a shame. I must admit I was quite surprised when OpenReach started running a cable from the telegraph pole, rather than the fibre optic junction box across the street. lol

Re: Gigabyte +

@Macflame Virgin media does not touch OR equipment and visa/versa for each. Same goes for City Fibre they are all different and competing companies!

FTTP typically uses a different topology to FTTC and avoids the street cabinet entirely: by definition it doesn't need to interface with the copper bundles contained in there.
