500mbit to 900mbit upgrade - time taken to change?

Hello,

Upgraded yesterday from Ultrafast Plus 500mbit to Gigafast 900mbit and was advised the speed upgrade would take "a few hours but may change right away". When I got home the router had lost connection and needed a reboot - which I thought was promising - however I'm still getting 450mbit approx (same as before)..... product shows as "Gigafast" on MySky app however when running a broadband check it still says I'm on Ultrafast Plus and tested at 506mbit.... so there is disparity there.

Any ideas on when it may change over? Thanks.

Question  do you  have full fibre to the property  broadband and one of these  in your  house as I  have  gigafast  and it changed  from 500mps  to  to 900mbps  within an hour, this is the  optical network terminal box that the router  connects to

@plymouthbloke The broadband test/check with sky is only once per day in a 24hr period, mine happened to be at 8.24pm every day and was updated on the Service Checker which always appeared to show 5pm i think, will take a look at an old screen dump and get back with that for you, the transition is done by sky quickly but for sure may take 24hrs to filter through, quickest way and depending on which hub you have is to look at Sky Hub Status, Modem and there you will see the hub's up/down values, for the FF 500 they are 549 990 and 750 00 so will be little different on the FF900 product.

www.fast.com may also show you, two stage test, first is speed to hub, 2nd is speed to device, update shows all the values, does take a minute to show it all. Have a go.

Yes we had that installed November 2023 when we took the 500mbit product.

Got an SR203 hub.... fast.com still reflecting speeds I had before I called up yesterday.... 420mbit download next to the router...

@plymouthbloke As you have the SR203 then look at the Status as advised. http:// and 192.168.0.1 next to the // to the web manager. site converts the values so not able to display as wished.

@plymouthbloke Then sky have not applied the upgrade to the system, you need to call and find out why, with the hub being off/on it would have updated sky's new upgrade that you have requested. Remember it is a holiday weekend, so the dept or person responsible for applying the change may just not have got to it yet!

The chap on live chat advised the upgrade is still showing as pending and might take another 24-48 hours.... not quite the "immediate to a few hours" as advised! No matter, I'll hang on and if it's not upgraded by next weekend I'll give them a call.

@plymouthbloke You will see it the hub, the service checker and also at fast.com as soon as sky do it and the hub gets it.

I updated my Broadband yesterday 25/ 07/25 from 500 to 900mbps. Within the hour the upload speed had increased 100mbps. We are now over 24 hours later and the download speed when checked on various speedcheckers show as being in the early 400mbps which is less than I was getting before(475). Whe I check it via sky service check it shows as 674 which is still below the guarantee speed. Anybody any ideas

@wills63 The speed checker should have jumped up from the around 500 to up close to the 900 mark, and does take 24hrs for sky's change to be effective at the hub side. Post a screen capture off the last 30 day's that you see!

Sky may have only actioned your change from Midnight on the day also!

We upgraded from 500 to Gigafast about 2 months ago and I won't lie the download speed has hardly changed. Very disappointing.

@plymouthbloke Is that because the devices cannot do it or what the hub is reporting in the service checker when sky look at it every day and record what it's doing!
