I have installation booked for next week and I'm aware that a cable needs to run from my exterior grey box to my router position with dual plug socket, with ONT a box added. My question is, near that point is an existing telephone point, both the grey box and telephone point are on the same wall but on different floors. Can the engineer pull through the existing telephone wire, attaching the new cable and therefore wiring hidden? In essence just replacing the existing copper wiring via the same route by pulling through new full fibre cable.

@Kab1907 pulling the fibre pigtail through an exisring route is not a given as the pigtail has an internal fibre plug and is quite fragile. Tell the engineer what you want and see if it is possible.

Re: Full fibre installation and internal wiring
Once the optical network terminal box is fitted your phone socket will no longer work and you connect your phone to the uk port on the router and the router is plugged into the optical network terminal box

Re: Full fibre installation and internal wiring
You should get something like this
the box outside the house and then something like this
the optical network terminal box in the house all fibre optic cable, they don't use any of the copper wire, it comes from the fibre optic box from the telegraph pole straight to your property, you have your own point on the telegraph pole for your home, I have had full fibre to the property broadband 900mps since January last year and not had any problems

Re: Full fibre installation and internal wiring
Thanks for the reply Peter. No telephone poll involved it's underground with grey box to front of the house and I know old telephone socket will be redundant. The question was, rather than external cable on the front of the house can cable follow the route of the existing copper telephone line, in effect replacing it, pull the old wire out with the new cable tied to it. Therefore no external cable.

Re: Full fibre installation and internal wiring
So it's a possibility with no guarantees. I'll discuss with engineer and IMO worth a try, plan B external cabling. Thanks again.

They are extremely unlikely to be prepared to pull through an optical pigtail using the current copper: the internal fibre just isn't designed to be deployed that way.

The cable will come from the grey box to a point where the engineer may think it is best to place the optical network terminal box in the house as the cable goes into the back of it, have a talk with the engineer when he comes see what he can do ,hope it goes well
