Full fibre in a flat
Hi all!
I've ordered a full fibre product an have an openreach appointment next week. However, I live in an MDU so am looking for some insight.
I own the flat itself, so installation of the ONT won't be an issue. However, any drilling into the building/ communal areas needs okayed by the management company of my building.
The management company are adamant that the building doesn't have fibre installed, but Sky have said the property has a fibre line so drilling won't be necessary. It is a fairly new building (2016). I ran a wholesale broadband check (below, address scrubbed out). The master socket in my flat is a 5C which from what I can gather is copper.
I've already had openreach delayed so am keen to know in advance if I'm going to need to get them to contact the management company of my building so I don't end up waiting any longer!
Has anyone else in an MDU with FTTP had full fibre installed, and did they need to drill in? Any advice much appreciated!! ☺️

Re: Full fibre in a flat
Once MDU shows on the bt wholesale sites all internal work should have been completed up to a white fibre box usually above your door. This means the managing agent has already approved the entire install the final stage would be to drill thru from the white box to feed the cable through

Ahh is that what this box is?
I did a google search on it when I moved in but everything I found said it was linked to the intercom system so I assumed it was that!

Yep. Now open it up there 10netres of cable rolled up inside. . If you ask nicely they can drll thru inside the cover so when the hatch is closed there will be no sign of any hole. Besides as i said the managing agents permitting work to be carried up to thjt point is almost explicit permission to drill you're ready to go 👍
