Fibre unstable and dropping out

For several weeks the signal keeps dropping out and slow. It's intermittent and it comes up as an unstable connection. A new modem was sent out but this hasn't helped.

we have the fibre 150 which has a guaranteed 100 mbs which is not being achieved. There has been no changes to anything in the house and I'm convinced it's an outside problem.

I Would appreciate any assistance as this is unacceptable.

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

@BUFFALO282 Take a look at the link below and post your stats's they are not going to show to much but need to see what your hub is like, do NOT switch it off before anything.... The SR203 is the Sky Broadband Hub and link just so you are sure, and no guessing...

How to read your Sky Hub statistics

For some reason it won't let me upload the router stats . Could you explain what I should be looking for to identify any issues.

thank you

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

@BUFFALO282 You want to be looking at the System Uptime, and on the column the uptimes for the four indivual's WanoE,lan 2.4 and 5.

Suspecting that your WanoE is the wacky one, that may be losing the connection, then after that would be the log file to see if wan connections are dropping out intermittently. See the picture when it appears for you to view.

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

System uptime 170 13 42

wanoe up time 142 42 17

lan 170 14 45 which is similar to the 2.4 and 5.0

I notice 37 collision pkts on the lan

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

@BUFFALO282 What is connected to the LAN side on the hub, the log file is only 24hrs time span due to it's over write, so good chance the wan drop is out off view now. You figures quoted Wan issue, i missed mine, was running along as nice as could be up in the thousands but did not see any problem in operation was caught by surprise....

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

I've got a 8 port switch connected to cat6 to rooms in the house, I have additional 4 port switch in the living room with cat 6 also have a NAS connected and a WiFi connected printer.

just wondering if any of these are conflicting I have had loads of problems with the HP printer dropping out

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

@BUFFALO282 It is simple, pull the nic's out one at a time, reset the hub in between each pull and see what is causing the collision on the Ethernet reset's always clear out the stat's and logs back to fresh and empty, some are avoidable, it is a ISP hub, so not a get up and go do everything!

Note:- This is now nothing to do with your original posting got 150 and cannot get the 100, so going to link about Network so do read them.

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

I'll try that maybe unplug everything then re introduce everything back individually and check.

Am I correct in saying that the collision pkts are showing as the problem ?

apologies for my lack of knowledge on this and I appreciate your help and patience

Re: Fibre unstable and dropping out

@BUFFALO282 They are not directly linked network is shared wireless/wired, one can lead to a problem with the other, your speed issue at the start off the posting is now irrelevant, could not care less about it, and if you watch the stat's packet's an speed from all devices are shown in the normal 10 second increment's.

Everyone has to learn, at least you are trying to do so.
