False information

The Sky broadband checker said it was available in our house so we switched from virgin. Its been 3 weeks and we still have no hub, (some sort of stock issue). So far its cost £60 between the household using our mobile hotspots. But yet the site still tries to make you sign up saying its available. Surely this is illegal....

@Grrrrr1

3 weeks isn't unusual. My son signed up for Sky Full Fibe on 23 November, hub delivered on 12 December and activated on 17 December.

The checker mines into the BT Wholesale lookup database to indicate whether broadband is potentially available at an individual address, and is an offer to attempt to supply.  Particularly for FTTP it doesn't necessarily mean the necessary infrastructure is already in place there.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Re: False information

@Grrrrr1 Why do you no longer have Broadband supplied by VM to you?

Re: False information

We cancelled VM TV and broadband as the bill was getting too expensive, the sky commission chasing salesperson said they were able to do a deal £30 cheaper. We've had a review twice, had a white line sprayed outside and then the new reason for the delay is because they need permission from the council to dig up the path outside of the house?

Re: False information

@Grrrrr1 You personally cancelled the VM side for both is that correct?

Re: False information

@Daniel0210  to be told it was available, then told there was a hub stock shortage, then permission to dig outside to put a cable in although cables were laid not so long ago by city fibre. Surely all this should be quite simple in the day and age.

Re: False information

@Grrrrr1 What has city fibre got to do with sky, they do not use that Fibre network?

Re: False information

@JimM1 correct  the deal was for tv and broadband although it wasn't cancelled their end at the first attempt, a mobile phone contract got cancelled along with it but that sorted itself somehow thankfully.

Re: False information

@JimM1 if city fibre can lay cables for the entire street in a week surely its not too difficult.

Re: False information

@Grrrrr1 Perhaps not 1 week is good going, they may have had a year in getting to that via planning etc, who knows.

Re: False information

@JimM1 don't get me wrong I know nothing about cables, or the process of setting it all up. But as they've created this partnership VM & CF,  and the cables are there is it not plug and play.? It all seems to me like get as many people signed up as we can so we can pay the top dogs their bonuses.
