Had our existing Gfast connection upgraded to FTTP today on the Fibre 150 package. When on Gfast we consistently got 150mb download speeds but since today's FTTP install we are now only seeing WiFi speeds of about 90mb and on the the Sky service checker it says the speed to the hub is only 96.2 mb/s. Is this normal with a FTTP instal and can I expect the speed to increase over the next few days.

@DaveL1967 All you can do is keep the eye on it now, knowing that you achieved it once is halve the battle! When the 100Mb/s is mentioned it's just on that cable point, 4 cores good to the 100Mb/s and all 8 cores good to the 1000Mb/s or 1Gb/s as more commonly referenced at!

Re: FTTP installed not getting guaranteed speed to hub
What colour is your hub? I have full fibre broadband gigafast 900mps and I have the wifi max hub and have no problems

Re: FTTP installed not getting guaranteed speed to hub
It's just one of the old black sky hub 4.2 which Sky have just sent me to replace the existing Gfast hub which was also a 4.2. This was just a free upgrade to an FTTP connection with no change to my existing contract terms.

Re: FTTP installed not getting guaranteed speed to hub
@DaveL1967 Have a look at the hub with the web manager if you can Maintenance / Router Status and see that you have been profiled correctly, Modem will display your up/down speed settings!

Re: FTTP installed not getting guaranteed speed to hub
@DaveL1967 Is there anyway that you have the ability to do one speed test with a Ethernet connected device to the sky hub.
Just to get a base line, also the hub stat's if you sit on those will show you what is going on data wise for the 3 bands Lan,2.4,5 and overall the wan interface.
Your hub should easily get the 150Mb/s / 30Mb/s via Ethernet, wireless should be up close, but can be difficult to determine if/when not everything else is off... and you are close, wireless with overheads is normal for 70% of rated throughput so getting your 96Mb/s is really close. wired is up at 98% as lot less overheads to contend with!
And for speed related issues good read.

Re: FTTP installed not getting guaranteed speed to hub
@DaveL1967 Some pictures i posted earlier on a wired FF500 feed, and you had 150 previous on g.fast so Fibre should be up there and NO need to wait, straight off it should go, it's not like copper with the 10 day train period. Only other setting i do on that hub is make sure the WAN setup is WANoE only and not set on Auto!!!

Re: FTTP installed not getting guaranteed speed to hub
@JimM1 Thanks for your input on this .. I read through the other thread that you linked to and decided to try a different Ethernet cable from the one provided by Sky between the Hub and the ONT and i am now getting the full 150 mb/s download and 30 mb/s upload so it looks like i had been given a dodgy Ethernet cable. I also took your advice to change the WAN set up to WANoE as suggested. 😃
