FTTP 500Mb getting 90Mbps and router keep dropping connection

I've had this router dropping connection for about a year now, and recently I started to have this issue with my speed being capped at around 90Mbps, where I've been getting over 500 at all times wired and wireless.

Here is the log from the latest dropout. Can anyone help point out anything obvious?

I don't have a landline/VOIP phone, and this is what happens all day several times a day, the voice light goes orange, and then the internet drops out. I've rang sky numerous times regarding it, and it's currently with the "network team". I have recently swapped out the router with a brand-new replacement, so it's unlikely to be that. This also happens when I have nothing hard-wired except the wan port.

I could bare the dropouts as I can restart the router and be back online in a few mins, but this is just awful. I have many devices at home and struggling to keep up with the limited bandwidth.

PLEASE PLEASE someone help me.

@Fenderbender22 given you have done all of the obvious things and the issue is with the network team it is difficult to suggest anything more. Assuming the ONT is remaining connected throughout it is logical to assume there is an issue in the Sky network that is causing the problem.

The only advice I can offer is to escalate this to a formal complaint, if you have not done so, with the aim of getting Sky to release you from contract to switch to an ISP better able to provide problem free connection. If you use your connection for business then you may find a provider such as Zen a better choice. This link explains how How to make a Sky complaint | Sky Help | Sky.com

Re: FTTP 500Mb getting 90Mbps and router keep dropping connection

There's something wrong with the connection between the router and the ONT :

syslog: [99482.676000] eth3 (Ext switch port: 4) (Logical Port: 12) Link UP 100 mbps full duplex

That would explain you only getting 90Mbps or so throughput.

Have you tried another ethernet cable?

@Fenderbender22

Your log shows a constant up and down of ethernet port 4 on the hub which is connected to your ONT therefore the issue is almost certainly either the router/ethernet port, the ethernet cable between the ONT & Router or the ONT itself. Are you able to try changing the cable?

Re: FTTP 500Mb getting 90Mbps and router keep dropping connection

I am actually surprised at this because the ethernet cable hasn't moved since it's been installed and was getting 500 but yeah I changed the cable and I'm getting full speed again. Crazy to me that the cable has just failed.

Thanks guys, hopefully this resolves the intermittent cutting out too

Re: FTTP 500Mb getting 90Mbps and router keep dropping connection

I just resolved this exact issue by splitting 2.4 GHz and 5GHz and then hiding the 2.4GHz channel and only connecting to the 5GHz connection. This fixed it.
