External fibre install.

Hi, i have recently order full fibre to be installed on May 31st.  Sky customer services said an engineer will visit before hand to fit the grey box on the wall externaly and carry out other external works.  Do you know if the engineer will make an apointment before hand for the external works or just turn up? Sky gave me a phone number for Openreach but no body answers the number.  Thanks all.

The Openreach crew just turned up. Thankfully I was in and was able to have some input on where not to put the external box. I think that was more luck than management though. 

 

The Sky engineer was a booked appointment though.

As @IguanaMAM indicates, Openreach tends to use their statutory powers to just turn up and proceed, particularly for overhead installation (from a phone pole).  It would be unusual for that to happen for new ducting though.

 

Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

I asked a similar question myself and the forum members @TimmyBGood has been very helpful

 

I ordered on Saturday after fibre eventually showing availability for my address, booked for 22nd May

 

Where in the country are you?

Thank you for the replies.   Wierdly shortly after my post the engineer turned up to do the external works.  We only knew he was at our house as he mangaed to set off our house alarm (which is another story!)  Anyway, luckily my wife was closeby and had a chat with the engineer about external locations etc.

 

@Aleksandrorlov the number we was given for Openreach was 0800 0232023, wasnt much help really.  We are near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire which is currently having the fibre roll out.
