Ethernet only internet

Hi folks after any help you can give please?

Been without wifi for all of the festive period. I've performed numerous router restarts using the different available methods. I've reset the network settings on apple devices and restarted all of those devices several times. But still I can't get them to access our wifi - very occassionally they will see the next work and join but it doesn't last long and is cripplingly slow (unusable) thankfully I have a lot of data accrued on our mobile plan so have been burning through that.

Ethernet via Powerline works fine for all devices. But wifi fails on TV, Security cameras, heating, lighting and all mobile and computer devices.

I think I need a new router..it does seem on the hot side... any suggestions welcomed - I feel I have exhausted all the options that I know from experience and from Mr Google.

Kindest thanks 🙂

PS Going through the Sky AI Chatbot is an eternal loop of failure to help and a fast track trip to insanity.

@misterbh

Can you try holding the reset button on the rear of the hub for a MINIMUM of 30 seconds, then disconnecting all ethernet connections and trying to connect to WiFi.

@misterbh

If the full reset doesn't work then you'll need a new router as suspected, and fight your way through the AI bot and Sky call centre to obtain a new replacement Sky router.

Re: Ethernet only internet

Thanks both for coming back - I tried disconnecting ethernet and the long factory reset restart on the router but still the same - says connected on different apple devices but no wifi... tv and thermostat are still not seeing it either but they tend to connect after some persistence and putting in the password etc but that's on a daily basis....

I'll see if I can speak to a human.... wish me luck 😉

I have escalated your post if you'd rather chat with Sky instead. Look out for a chat bubble

Re: Ethernet only internet

Update - Spoken to @misterbh and after some checks, it seems one of the boosters was causing the issue 🙂

Thanks

Re: Ethernet only internet

Thanks Lisa - yup looks like the booster was the culprit - so far so steady...if anything changes I'll shout back again but hopefully we can get along with the one booster - thanks again for everyones kind support 🙂
