Hi guys I have sky gig fibre and two Asus zen xt8s connected via the option 61 route.only managed to do this by reading all the questions and answers you guys posted ,so thanks does anyone have a Asus and have a best settings.. currently running qos and have firewall on and used a WiFi finder to see what my neighbours was using to pick the best empty channel.not a tech guy, just stuff I've picked up on the way, changed my cables to cat6 for future proof.wonder if you guys have any more tips or tricks I may have missed. @Ki11sh0t87  Unless you find otherwise, Qos shouldn't be needed on anything over a 500 Mb's connection, so on gigafast, you should have better throughport with qos off.

 I've also heard some have had better results with smart connect off.

You can set up AiProtection / firewall  / dns etc as per your preferences,

but it's best practice to keep most of the settings on default, then use the advanced  / custom settings only to solve any issues that you have, rather than adjusting settings just because you can.

Tom...

Sky want us to believe in better
BELIEVE =accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.
BETTER = of a higher standard, or more suitable, pleasing, or effective than other things or people:

Sky Q & 2 mini’s
SR203 router. > Replaced with ASUS XT9’s with a TP-Link TD-W9970 modem
Sky superfast 80/20 :sort of, 63-75/15. Devolo 1200 wifi > Replaced with cat 6
Sony KDAF8 65 oled.

QoS isn't necessary and will slow down the speed when you've high capacity, eg: a Gbps.

AiProtection is good but may slow things down again because it is DPI-dependent but highly recommended. I use a firewall DPI so don't use it.

I've separated the wireless bands on mine, eg: I don't use smart connect. Have mine set for 1 5Ghz-1 band is WPA3, and the others are WPA2/WPA3 for 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz-2. This is done for compatibility and best security.

DNS I'd set it for DNS over HTTPS and Quad9 (9.9.9.9) which seems the best but my firewall does DNS over HTTPS round-robin which is even better, so that is pointed at my firewall.

@Ki11sh0t87

None of the settings you have posted will impact speed, only the ones concerning QoS, History analysis and DPI inspection will slow the throughput down. And not to the point of getting buffering issues.

As for the buffering one should put everything on 5Ghz unless it doesn't support that wireless band or it is out of range of the 5Ghz wireless band. So, default 5Ghz and anything that doesn't support 5Ghz goes on a 2.4Ghz wireless band.
