Ethernet Cabling to an outbuilding

Hi,

I'm moving my home office to an outbuilding and need a wired connection as the Wi-Fi would be too slow.

does anyone know if a sky engineer would be able to drill the wall and run the Ethernet cable for me and then drill and terminate it into a local switch in the outbuilding? If so, how would I go about organising this?

You can buy ethernet extension leads with a pre installed socket to plug into an existing ethernet socket online in various lengths. Simple enough to install yourself.

No. Sky nor Openreach would do this kind of work.

You'll either need to get a local electrician/telecoms person to do it or do it yourself.

@Stir98

No domestic ISP would have their personnel carry out such work: it's just not in their remit.

Some business solution providers who also own an ISP division (such as BT) would happily charge a very large amount for their 'network installation services'.

@Stir98 if installing in an out building use external quality cable unless there is a duct of some sort as standard ethernet cable wont last too long if outside. In most areas you will find a local outfit able to do this properly with a temination in a wall socket at each end but beware of electricians as many dont understand the first thing about networking.
