ER115 replaced with new router, SR203, not connecting

The newer SR203 has replaced the older ER115, but no internet connection on the SR203 when the two routers are swapped.

 

ER115 works fine, unplug the ER115 at the microfilter and re-connected to new SR203.

 

The orange light on the internet indicator blinks and then a permanent orange light appears before blinking again about a minute later.

@SirDixie if Sky sent to you as an ipgrade to your existing connection call them as it sounds like its faulty.

@SirDixie what service are you buying from Sky and why have Sky sent you the new router? While the SR203 should wor with most Sky services but may not if you are on an older ADSL service. In that case if you are due to be upgraded the new hub should work with the new service. .if thst doesnt apply call Sky as the new hub sounds to be  faulty

we were sent an upgraded box after phoning sky, which was to request a wider range internet coverage. Nothing else has changed, same speeds were expected and same connection too, ADSL it seems to me, but I admit my own lack of in-depth knowledge on the subject. 

 

My initial, uneducated, guess was perhaps an optimal network terminal might need to be added but I cannot reason why that would be a necessary if the speeds and package were to remain the same, simply unplugging the old box and plugging in the new box seem a reasonable expectation.

Just a quick update:

an open reach engineer had arrived and examined the line with his device and the issue with the box was resolved over the telephone, which somebody needed to activate their end. Apparently, according to the engineers insights, the box is assigned to an address and needs activation before it functions.  

 

In the anticipation of further questions, a prolepsis of sort, we were on the phone to a sky operator for 30-45 minutes with efforts to attempt a resolve of the issue.
